3 Powerful New Twitter Strategies Proven to Drive Huge Targeted Blog Traffic

Photo Credit: mkhmarketing via Compfight cc

I've been developing and testing a number of  powerful new micro-content-marketing Twitter strategies over the last number of weeks.

The result of my most recent Twitter missions? Extraordinary! This is what I've accomplished:

1. Close to 4000 High Value Niche-Targeted Twitter Followers in Just Over The Last 3 Weeks @P2PEngagement and Growing Fast!

2. Over 10,000 Niche-Targeted Blog Visits In the Last Month from Twitter!

 3. A Huge Jump in Twitter Engagement Levels as Measured By Kred.com Stats With close to a 300% Jump in Objectively Measured Engagement Levels.

Twitter is one of the most effective social platforms for both driving high volumes of real time blog traffic and for directly engaging your most high value followers.

Here Are The 3 Powerful New Twitter Engagement Strategies That Have Drive These Amazing Recent Gains in My Blog Traffic and Engagement:

1. Frequently Share High Quality Images:

As a relative newbie to Google+ I noticed that a number of newer business accounts were enjoying high levels of follower growth by sharing high quality digital nature images.

For a very busy social media manager and blogger this makes perfect sense to me.

Beautiful high quality mainly people-free images of serein nature settings offers a welcome break from the massive flow of busy business related social media content.

The Powerful Result of sharing high quality nature images?

 1. A massive surge in the number of RT's and favorites to my Twitter account generally;

 2. A tremendous increase in the rate of re-tweeting, favoriting and commenting on my blog content Tweets

 3. Hundreds of almost instant page views to this blog after just 10 minutes of Tweeting high quality images interspersed with my direct blog post Tweets.

How Did I Find Such a Huge Number of High Quality Images to Tweet?

Simple. I created and gradually built a Twitter List of exceptional nature photography-sharing Twitter accounts.

This way I have a constant flow of breath taking images to RT and interpose with my I own content and content that I curate from other amazing social media, gamification and social media sites.

What's really driving my Twitter success and growth is really an integrated list based and truly organic content marketing strategy.

This why I also get to frequently engage and directly tweet chat with industry thought leaders, CEO's and best-selling authors, - which often creates a surge in targeted blog traffic as well!

2. How did I Manage to Attract Thousands of Real, High Value Twitter Followers in Under a Month?

Actually, I've discovered what I think is the most powerful Twitter following strategy currently available!

It allows you to quickly accumulate huge numbers of followers based on selecting accounts with a high likelihood of following you back.

Getting several thousand highly active and very large Twitter accounts to follow me has enabled me  to do what's called high frequency Tweeting at strategic times during the day, - those well knownbest times to tweet.

It's amazing to see how high frequency tweeting actually increased engagement and blog visits. You would think tweeting several times per hour would result in a lack a high rate of un-following.

Yet not only have I seen an increase in traffic and engagement, but I've also had an large and constant increase in the number of followers I get, directly from the highly effective micro-content-marketing strategy I've developed and am now sharing with you.

I've actually written a short must read post that describes exactly how to get thousands of real followers to your account fast. It's called:

Although the article is written for a Twitter for business audience, it's perfectly suited for rapidly building a deep engagement Twitter account for your personal brand as well.

This post also explains the high frequency tweeting strategy I mentioned as well in much greater detail.

Whatever you do, don't buy fake followers for Twitter or any other social media account.

All the major social platforms and search engines are working on way of getting rid of fake follower (and other fake social signal-based) accounts. Fake is not worth it in the long run!

This follower strategy enables incredibly Twitter synergy between tweeting high value content and images and my own blog post links.

Having several hundred new followers checking out your site just as you post fresh blog content is a serious blog traffic booster.

And remember: Effective Blog Posting is one of the most powerful organic SEO and content marketing strategies available today!

 3. Build and Use Twitter Lists as Your Core Content Marketing and Social Engagement Strategy
It took me a while to really catch on to the amazing value of building Twitter Lists. But these are absolutely essential to my phenomenal success on Twitter.

Twitter lists are not new, but using theme to curate high value images as part of a 3 pronged micro-content -curation and accelerated following strategy is.

What's a Twitter List?

A Twitter list allows you to create a separate Twitter stream around your #keywords and themes your content marketing around on Twitter. That way you don't have to look or try to work with the huge volume of otherwise disorganized and unrelated Tweets to your main focus.

For example, I love gamification. So I have a gamification list. When I click on the list I can see what my favorite gamification companies, designers, CEO's and thought leaders are tweeting.

I can then strategically RT and favorite gamification content (tweets) from other accounts, especially around those times when I will be posting a new gamification blog post.

I also get to see what kind of #tags the larger gamification community is using so I can add these to my #tweets when I post my own fresh or existing blog content.

I also have #tech, #socialmedia and of course #images lists that I regularly add to as I discover new high value and interesting accounts that I know will add value for my followers via my Twitter micro-content marketing strategy.

How do You Build Strong Twitter  Lists?

Start by building just one general Twitter list that reflects your the general theme of your Twitter account - business or personal.

For example, I started with one general tweet list that included blogging, tech, startup, gamification, content marketing and social media accounts.

Eventually, as my core Twitter list started getting too big, I started creating sub lists and removing accounts from the general list and adding them to the sub lists. For instance I now have separate #images and #gamification lists.

Your Key Take-Aways Form This Twitter Tips Post:

The #1 Reason No One Follows Your Business Twitter Account!

The #1 Reasons Twitter Business Accounts Fail and The #1 Thing You Need To Be Doing About It Right Now!

Twitter is hands down one of the most powerful social media platforms for:
1.    Building brand awareness across a vast social network of 271 million monthly active users;

2.    Driving  large volumes of targeted traffic to your blog (content marketing strategy #1) For example, this blog gets several hundred targeted page views per day from Twitter alone and has been instrumental in building our 5 star article writing and social media management business on Elance) and;

3.     Directly connect with and socially selling to your ideal customers: People who are looking to buy your products or services right now, but who have not been able to find you yet online.

Over the past few years I have seen so many amazing tech and apps startups and even well-established real world businesses start and completely fizzle out on Twitter.

I’m talking about the complete or near complete Twitter failure of hundreds of business with extraordinary value propositions, - business offering products and services with the obvious potential to create serious value for their ideal customers.

So What’s the # 1  Reason so Many of These New Business Twitter Accounts Quickly Fizzle into Inactive or Underactive Status?

A complete lack of followers! In order for a business to reap the incredible benefits of Twitter as a core social media marketing strategy, it’s essential that they have thousands of niche targeted followers.
It’s virtually impossible to do active preemptive engagement or targeted micro-content-marketing on Twitter without first having a solid base of thousands of followers.

The business I've seen fail make the mistake of trying to simply billboard their marketing materials and message directly to a very small number of followers. The result is a minuscule number of often poor quality follower accounts.

The challenge of getting thousands of ideal customer targeted followers is even more challenging now that:

1.    Twitter has long since banned the automated un-following and following process; and,

2.    Twitter changed its basic format, the follower accounts page has huge graphic displays of each account that’s following you. So it can take hours now to scroll through so many accounts and try to decide to follow or un-follow.

These obstacles significantly slow down the rate by which your account will be noticed and followed back.

So what’s the Solution? How do you Get Thousands if Not Tens of Thousands of Targeted Twitter Followers To Your Account Fast?

The solution is actually what I now consider to be the most powerful Twitter management software currently available. And there is a free version you can use.

We’ve had over 500 new highly active followers per day when we actively apply the strategy I’m describing here.

We now have  27K+ (update: now close to 34K) highly active and deeply engaged Twitter followers @P2PEngagement and growing very fast. We get several hundred page views from around the world (mainly the United States) from Twitter alone to this blog!

Here’s the Strategy and The Steps You Need to Take to Really Make This Strategy Work for Your Business Twitter Account:

The strategy I recommend starts with not just the use of, but the proper use of a very powerful Twitter tool. It’s a tool that allows you to first instantly select competitor and other potential customer-rich Twitter accounts.

It then quickly populates a list of all your selected account’s followers. You can then rapidly follow any or all of the followers of the account you've selected.

You don’t have to waste hours scrolling through the clumsy new Twitter follower page. there are also powerful account metrics you get to see and work with.

You can reciprocate and quickly follow back all the new accounts that are spontaneously following you. As importantly you can rapidly remove the accounts that you've followed that have not followed you back.

Now here’s where This Particular Twitter Tool Which I Will Now Name, Has Really Revolutionized the Twitter Following Process.

Now the above mentioned following and unfollowing processes are available through a number of great free and paid Twitter tools.

But this amazing Twitter Management Tool “Tweepi” allows you to do some truly incredible strategic Twitter following in the paid version, which at such a slight monthly cost is Literally worth it’s wait in Twitter-business gold.

So What Makes Tweepi So Special?
Tweepi allows you to do 3 very powerful things at once. This is the real value of this blog post.

You really need to read these next brief sections very carefully if you want to take the first critical step in towards reaping the powerful benefits of Twitter for business. Tweepi allows you to simultaneously:

1.    Identify and follow Twitter followers with a very high likelihood of following you back;

2.    Follow Twitter accounts that are highly active; and,

3.    Follow Twitter accounts that have a high number of followers.

How does Tweepi “Know” if An Account is Highly Likely to Follow You Back or Not?

Here’s an example. Let’s say you’re starting a social media management business. You’ve used Tweepi to explore the followers of a social media account run by a highly successful social marketing business with a great Twitter brand presence, like the one you’d like to develop.

The paid version of Tweepi allows you to click on (from a drop down list sorting menu) the follow back ratio display of each account. What does that mean?

It means that you get to see the how many Twitter accounts each of the target accounts, for the account you are now exploring, follow back their followers back!

For example, on our @P2PEngagement account we follow back 100% of the real targeted followers who follow us or who follow us back.

So we have a follow back ratio of 100% most of the time on Tweepi. So we are the kind of account that are 100% likely to follow you back, as long as you’re account is real and your have an interest in social media, blogging and gamification.

You will greatly increase the likelihood and speed by which people follow you back by first following Twitter accounts with a 100% (or close to it) likelihood of following you back.

Our account is well established with over 27k+ followers. I’ve found that it’s best to select accounts that are in the 95%-150% follow back range.

As you’ll see when you start to use Tweepi, the vast majority of Twitter accounts have a very low (30-70%) or a very high follow back rate (200% to up to 5000%).

These are the same vast majority of Twitter accounts who are unlikely to follow you back, that might be bots/fake accounts or who will eventually unfollow you to make it look like they are a very important accounts after a few days or weeks.

For a new account, I recommend that you stick as closely as possible to the 100% follow target range. This is comparatively small percentage of the Twitter accounts you’ll see.

For example you might find 1-20 per 200 accounts. But it is so worth your time to follow accounts with such a high demonstrated likelihood of following you back when you’re just starting, rather than following 2000 accounts and simply hoping they’ll follow you back (when most will not).

Tip: If you are doing manual following on Twitter - follow accounts that are following slightly more than are following them.

Tweepi Allows You To Follow Highly Active Accounts.

You don’t want inactive or fake accounts following you, because inactive accounts can’t RT, favorite or click on your content links.

Not only does Tweepi allow you filter accounts for the 100% follow back ratio sweet-spot , but it also allows you filter for the last time each account tweeted.

Recent tweets (i.e. within minutes or hours) combined with a 100% follow back ratio are a powerful way of identifying highly active accounts who will follow you back.

Why is it Important That You Follow Accounts with A High Number of Followers?

Effective content marketing of Twitter means that you need to increase the rate by which you Tweet as your number of Twitter followers increases.

Twitter accounts with high numbers of followers are more likely to keep following you if you tweet a lot each day. This includes the all so important intermittent automation of your Tweeting process.

Have you heard about the Powerful 15 Minute Rule?

Back in January Twitter community manager Jade Furubayashi conducted a ground breaking Twitter experiment.

She was concerned that tweeting to frequently would cause Twitter followers to unfollow her. Wow was she wrong. And she proved it!

She experimented by tweeting every 30 minutes or every 15 minutes with a focus on key times of the day that are known to be the best times to Tweet.

The findings were as incredible as they were unexpected.

What did she discover? This how Jade explained her findings:

“After compiling the data from both weeks, I found that Tweeting in 15-minute increments increased traffic by 31% and engagement by 89%.” - Jade Furubayashi

Engagement as measured by click through rate to content (i.e. blog posts) stayed pretty constant when tweeting every 30 minutes vs every 15 minutes. But because the rate of tweeting was doubled the number of page visits all most doubled!

What are the Key Lessons for Quickly Growing Your New or Under-Performing Business Twitter Account?
Start by getting at least a few thousand highly active followers using this Tweepi strategy I’m recommending.

Twitter is constantly limiting what these otherwise powerful Twitter management tools can do. So it may be just a matter of time before you won’t be able to enjoy the powerful benefits of These kinds of Twitter tools.

Tweet with a low frequency at first using my preemptive social engagement strategy for Twitter but increase your tweeting frequency as your Twitter account increases in size.

And of course: Always make sure that you are Tweeting and RTing the highest quality content!

Make sure to follow accounts that have both a high likelihood of following you back and at least 3000-5000 followers.

Having account follow you with a higher volume of followers means that you can more quickly increase the rate by which you RT each day.

In the long run, you need to have thousands or tens of thousands of highly active accounts following you, who also have thousands or tens of thousands of followers themselves. This will drastically increase the Twitter-reach of your business, your brand and your blog content.

Is Effective Content Marketing Really Just Organic SEO Done Right? [#infographic]

SEO is dead. Ok, "dead" may be too strong a word, but SEO as you may know it no longer exists.

Senseless keyword stuffing, copy-spinning, the so-called "black hat" techniques and other practices that once made SEO the sacred domain of online marketers no longer guarantee to generate the same volume of traffic for bloggers and website owners.

Google's algorithm changes have seen to that. Instead, we're seeing a new approach to online marketing emerge, one that gives more importance to high quality, original content.

This is the dawning of the Age of Content Marketing, you see, when not only is content king, it's the absolute truth.

On the surface nothing much has changed. Blogging and producing engaging feature articles have been around since people figured out how to make money online.

Keyword-rich blog posts and feature articles drove the growth of SEO. However, SEO eventually evolved so that it became all about the techniques and the process.

Content was soon relegated to a mere platform from which SEO techniques were launched and carried out. A couple of things became evident as this situation played out.

First, it became evident that SEO was not rocket science, and that anyone with enough time and gumption could get it done.

Second, and perhaps more important, it soon became evident that not everyone had the time nor the talent to create great content to anchor their SEO on.

But it's the techniques that matter, right? At least that's how the first generation of SEO experts saw it, and so technique took center stage and content was its dispensable wingman.

And so that's how the age of dull, shameful and senseless content began. It got so annoying that eventually Google put it's foot down and said "enough!"

Google changed its algorithm and started slapping wrists and penalizing bad, annoying content. And so now, even if you're an SEO ninja with a bag of arcane SEO tricks at your disposal, you won't get too far with it if all you have are crappy, keyword-stuffed blog posts and articles to go along with your SEO wizardry. And yet so many so called SEOs are still aggressively marketing these harmful practices.

Google wants high quality, original, compelling, engaging and relevant content. And even if we don't admit it, so do we.
Content is what attracts people to your blog or website. If you continue to churn out great content, then people will keep coming back to enjoy it or use it.

The rules of the game have changed right before our very eyes, and content marketing is the new SEO (sort of). The sooner we accept and adapt to this new reality, the better off our online marketing efforts will be.

So here are 5 ways you can execute your content marketing strategy and drive traffic to your blog or website:

1. Write for Humans

It's been said that "the eyes are the windows to one's soul." In a similar way, your content ought to be the windows to your business.

For the most part, your blog posts and feature articles will be the first opportunity for people to learn about your business, your opinions, your advocacy or whatever it is that you peddle on the Web.

In many cases this content may be the ONLY way people will get to learn about you and what you offer. So this is where you need to start and make a good first (and lasting) impression.

You need to provide blog posts or articles that are written well and written for human readers. At the height of the SEO fever, it was common to come across blog posts that employed cutting edge SEO techniques aimed at gaining the attention and favor of search engines, but which were agonizing and all-but-impossible to read.

Make sure that your blog posts, articles, videos, podcasts, infographics and other content are optimized for human consumption.

2. Establish Authorship

Google has enforced a system that allows you to take credit for the content you produce. Google Authorship is simple to implement, requiring only a tiny investment in time to create and configure a Google+ account and link to it from your blog posts.

Because it is a Google thing, it offers the benefit of tying in to their search engine results. As a matter of fact, if you have your Google Authorship correctly configured, every time your blog post appears in Google's search results, it will appear alongside your Google+ profile photo.

Research shows us that just having your photo alongside the search engine result for your blog can significantly increase your credibility and trustworthiness.

3. Embrace Social Media

This is almost a no-brainer, but in case there are still some skeptics out there, here is the lowdown on why you need to get with the program. You will have noticed by now that the one thing social media networks like YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ are great at is growing your network of friends, followers and contacts.

This may not sound like much but it's a huge thing for businesses to have. When done properly, social media is an effective tool to find a steady stream of new prospects and an awesome channel for staying in touch.

Use highly effective social media strategies to promote your published content and drive visitors to your blog or website.

4. Establish a Cadence

Blog regularly and consistently. If you regularly and consistently post great content every Monday morning, people will take notice and expect to find a new post from you every Monday.

You'll soon find yourself top-of-mind for these people and your readership will continue to grow and sustain itself. And that is simply because of no other reason than people have begun to expect your blog post each Monday morning.

5. Don't Dismiss SEO Entirely

Just because SEO is no longer as effective as it once was does not mean that is totally worthless at this point. There are still some elements to it that make sense and constitute good practice within the new content marketing paradigm.

For example, while keyword-stuffing is no longer welcome, it still makes sense to seed your content with strategic keywords, as long as they are work with the blog post's or article's readability.

Setting the <meta> description in the blog post's <head> section also allows you to display a readable description of the content when it comes up in a search, increasing the chances that the reader will interact with and take action on the search listing.

Find and understand these useful "remnants" of the past SEO age and put them to work for your content marketing strategy.
---
SEO as we knew it is now dead, but from its ashes has arisen the new content marketing paradigm. It's a paradigm that favors those who offer true value to their audiences and rids the Web of fluff and irrelevance.

The tips enumerated here are simple, but they will require commitment and consistency for you to realize a tangible return on your content marketing investment!
